Artificial Intelligence Tools Policy

Authors must disclose the use of generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted technologies when such tools have materially contributed to the preparation of a manuscript.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity or originality of scientific work.

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • accuracy of submitted content;
  • originality;
  • citations;
  • interpretation of data;
  • protection of confidential information.

AI tools should not be used to fabricate, manipulate or misrepresent scientific data, images or references.

Where generative AI has been used beyond routine language correction, authors should disclose its use in the manuscript.

Reviewers

Manuscripts and unpublished information submitted for review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers should not upload confidential manuscripts into publicly accessible generative AI systems.
