ABSTRACT
Aim of the study: This paper aims to identify information regarding traumatic dental injuries in primary and mixed dentition, in respect to clinical evaluation and knowledge of dental practitioners. Materials and method: Literature was searched for electronic articles, using the terms: dental trauma, primary dentition, guidelines. Results: Most studies show a reluctance of general dental practitioners to treat dental trauma in their office, even if guidelines and treatment protocols are available for each type of traumatic dental injury, both for primary and permanent dentition. Conclusions: Continuous education, information and instructions available for parents are needed in order to obtain a correct diagnosis and have an efficient management and follow-up in dental trauma.
