Abstract
Stress is an adaptive response to external and internal challenges, but in the case of students, it can become dysfunctional when not managed properly. The aim of the study: validation of the Romanian version of the Student Stress Inventory (SSI) as a tool for measuring stress intensity in students. Materials and methods: The study included 50 students, grouped by age, sex, background, and year of study. To assess the stress level, the SSI questionnaire was used, which includes four subscales: physical stress, interpersonal relationships, academic stress, and environmental factors, each containing 10 questions. Scores are obtained on a Likert scale, and the final scores are used to evaluate the stress level: low, moderate, or severe. Results: High internal consistency of the SSI questionnaire, with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient ranging from 0.759 to 0.886. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) indicated excellent reproducibility of the responses, with values ranging from 0.810 to 0.933. Conclusions: These results confirmed that the Romanian version of the SSI is a valid and reliable tool for assessing stress among Romanian students.
