PARTICULARITIES OF BRUXISM IN CHILDREN VERSUS IN ADULTS

ABSTRACT

Bruxism is the medical term for grinding of the teeth. It usually manifests at night during sleep and people usualy don’t know that they  are suffering from this disease. Besides grinding of their teeth, bruxomans have olso the habite of biting their nails, pencils or chew the inside of their cheeks. It affects people of all ages, from childhood to adulthood and can cause problems such as facial pain, headache, chronic fatigue, pain in the temporal-mandibular joint(TMJ), tooth degradation in the form of  dentin. There are electromyographic (EMG) methods for investigating this condition in both children and adults, the next generation technology and equipment making real progress in this regard.
